Main Avenue Construction Update 

Construction on Main Avenue is underway. The project will reconstruct Main Avenue NE from County Road 37 to 50th Street NE over the next two years. 

To date, CenterPoint Energy has replaced the gas main and gas services throughout the corridor. Xcel Energy and CenturyLink are currently installing underground utilities so that overhead lines can be removed next year. Pavement has already been removed north of the railroad tracks, and watermain construction has begun near 60th Street NE. 

The plan is to have most of the work North of 57th Street NE completed in 2025, with major work South of 57th Street NE beginning in 2026. While there will be periodic closures, access to homes and businesses will be maintained from at least one direction. 

Central Park Improvements in Progress

Construction of the new Central Park Playground and Plaza has started. Recent wet conditions have caused some delays, but progress continues. Site utilities, including storm sewer and watermain, have been installed, and the contractor is currently working on footings and foundations for the new park structures. 

Playground equipment installation is scheduled for mid-September, followed by concrete sidewalks and surfacing of the play area. All construction is anticipated to be completed this Fall, with the park reopening in the Spring.
