Starting Jan. 1, 2026, the City of Albertville will charge a 3.25% convenience fee to all payments made with a credit card, debit card, PayPal or Venmo. The fee applies to any transactions, including autopay or one-time payment by phone, in person or through the City's on-line Payment Services Network (PSN). This fee is non-refundable.
Payments made by checking or savings account, money, or automatic payments processed through PSN will be charged a $1.10 non-refundable convenience fee.
Utility billing customers can avoid convenience fee by enrolling in automatic monthly withdrawal (ACH) from a checking or savings account. For more information, contact the Utility Billing Department or complete a Direct Payment Form on albertvillemn.gov and submit.
The City does accept cash, check, money order or cashier's check in person or via mail.
Cities have the authority to charge convenience fees under Minn. Stat. § 471.381, subd. 2. Minn. Stat. § 325G.051 allows cities to add a surcharge to transactions when the customer elects to use a card in lieu of cash or check.
The convenience fee is part of a citywide effort to recover the costs associated with accepting credit cards, PayPal, Venmo and all on-line payments. We appreciate your understanding!
