Project Pencils of Wright County was started in the summer of 2010. A small group of social workers and other Wright County Human Services' staff were brainstorming about a way to help their clients who could not afford school supplies and decided to start collecting donations. The first year, Project Pencils of Wright County helped 40 children by giving them some of the supplies they needed to start school. In 2017, they were able to help 348 local students start school with a backpack and all (or most of) their school supplies! Brandy Vollbrecht put her heart and countless hours into this wonderful project.
